In 2011, there was a review of starting a Doctor of Medicine Program after the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center expressed support for it. A study confirmed the importance of the program. Consequently, Mariano Marcos State University decided to establish the MMSU College of Medicine in 2012. This move aims to improve healthcare services in Northern Luzon communities and uphold the university's values of excellence, integrity, and service to God and country.
The primary goal is to cultivate medical professionals who possess essential training and practical experience. Research endeavors are undertaken to enhance medical education and service quality, addressing various health-related challenges with existing resources. Extension service activities are conducted to foster community awareness, responsiveness, and engagement.
