Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc., previously recognized as Southwestern University-Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc., originated as Southwestern Colleges during the summer of 1946. This period marked a pivotal moment as the entire nation embarked on the reconstruction process following the aftermath of World War II.

In 1946-1947, the Doctor of Medicine Program began with fourteen students and six faculty members. Full government recognition was granted in 1952. Following the Medical Act of 1965, Southwestern University's Doctor of Medicine Program transitioned to a non-profit educational institution. It was officially registered as Southwestern University- Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine Inc. (SWU-MHAM CM, Inc.) on May 26, 1970. This college honors its founder, Don Matias Hipolito Aznar II. The Doctor of Medicine Program has produced numerous board topnotchers and physicians who have become experts in various specialties. These professionals have achieved recognition not only within our country but also internationally, making significant contributions to the field of medicine worldwide.
