The School of Medicine at Saint Louis University has a rich history of excellence in medical education, graduate medical education, and graduate studies. Founded in 1836, the school holds the honor of granting the first medical degree west of the Mississippi River and takes pride in its affiliation with the 450-year legacy of Jesuit education.

The SLU School of Medicine trains doctors and biomedical researchers, conducts medical investigations, and delivers healthcare services at local, national, and global levels. In addition to producing skilled physicians versed in human biology, our goal is to graduate individuals who demonstrate a commitment to humanistic medicine in their personal and professional lives.
